eSIM for Istanbul: what you need when you land

You do not need a Istanbul-only tariff. The national plan works in the city and elsewhere wherever Vodafone Türkiye is available. Three GB costs €4.99 for a short stay with Wi-Fi; for easier daily travel, I would choose 10 GB at €8.99.
A flight arrives at SAW while the accommodation is on the European side. The traveller confirms the bus, checks the connection and sends an arrival time without finding a SIM shop.
Istanbul needs the right airport, not a city-only eSIM
The Istanbul product is Türkiye's national plan and can continue to Cappadocia or the coast. The city's special problem is the way the connection works: IST and Sabiha Gökçen sit on different sides, and metro, bus and ferry combinations vary.
Save the airport code and address to avoid starting from the wrong terminal. Crossing from Europe to Asia inside Istanbul neither changes country nor requires another activation.

Save the address, pickup point and accommodation phone before flying. During the first hour, they are more useful than buying the largest €16.99 bundle. In Türkiye, leave room for the correct airport and the Cappadocia transfer.
Before flying: prepare these details
- Download the Istanbul map and the first transfer before departure.
- Save the accommodation address and phone outside email.
- Keep the same country eSIM when continuing through Istanbul, the Mediterranean coast and Cappadocia.
- Do not turn 5G capability into a promise of continuous 5G after April 2026.
Before travelling to Cappadocia or along the coast, save the route and accommodation name. You can then continue when the signal changes on the road. Prepare it even if you only visit Istanbul; arrival leaves little room to improvise.
Does the eSIM work at both Istanbul airports?
It can connect where Vodafone Türkiye is available and setup is correct; no provider guarantees one terminal interior.
Do I need another eSIM across the Bosphorus?
No. Both shores use the same national plan, subject to service, allowance and validity.
Does the same eSIM work outside Istanbul?
Yes. It is a national plan for Türkiye, subject to coverage, remaining data and validity.
Will it work when I leave Istanbul airport?
It can connect wherever Vodafone Türkiye has signal and the setup is correct. No eSIM can guarantee one gate or building.
When should I install it?
Before travelling, on stable Wi-Fi. Keep the email and instructions until the trip is over.
