Which eSIM to take to Egypt

Updated on 24 August 2026

In short

For most trips to Egypt, choose 10 GB at €24.99 for maps, messages, social media and a few calls. Take 3 GB at €9.90 with regular Wi-Fi, or 20 GB at €40.99 for video, work or connection sharing. The listed networks are Orange Egypt, Etisalat y Vodafone Egypt, depending on the plan.

A Cairo–Luxor week can use mobile data in transfers and Wi-Fi at night. Remote excursions increase the need for offline backup even when they do not increase the data pool required.

Egypt's itinerary decides whether the margin serves city or desert travel

The small bundle covers directions and messages with hotel Wi-Fi, ten gigabytes add calls and social use, and twenty suit video, work or connection sharing.

Cross that scale with the route: Cairo and Luxor do not represent a desert road or Sinai excursion. Three listed networks add possibilities, not a point-by-point guarantee. Download maps, bookings and guide contacts before leaving an urban area, without confusing allowance with reach.

My recommendation: start with 10 GB. Drop to 3 GB when photos and video can wait for Wi-Fi; move to 20 GB when work or a laptop depends on the connection. In Egypt, save maps before a desert road or a trip into Sinai.

Before flying: prepare these details

  • Count the periods without dependable Wi-Fi, not only the total days.
  • Separate video calls, uploads and connection sharing from maps and messaging.
  • Before paying, check that the phone supports eSIM and is not locked to one carrier.
  • Save the hotel name in Arabic and in the booking's transliteration.

Before a desert, Sinai or remote road excursion, download the map and keep the guide's or driver's phone number outside a single app. Choose the allowance for your usage; the saved map and bookings matter just as much.

Do three networks guarantee service throughout Egypt?

No. Availability changes by area, carrier, phone and conditions. Listed names are not a simultaneous-connection promise.

What plan suits Cairo and Luxor?

Choose by video, calls and Wi-Fi. More data adds room but does not change route coverage.

Which plan suits a normal trip to Egypt?

Ten GB at €24.99 is a comfortable middle ground. With daily Wi-Fi and little video, 3 GB at €9.90 may be enough.

Does the eSIM include calls and SMS?

No. It is a data-only eSIM. You can keep your usual SIM for messages, but check possible roaming charges first.

Can I share the connection with another device?

Yes. Every connected device uses the same allowance, so keep an eye on data when a laptop is connected.
