One eSIM for Japan and South Korea
The Asia regional plan covers twelve countries, Japan and South Korea among them, with a single eSIM. From 7,90 € for 7 days with 1 GB. When you land at Incheon after Tokyo it connects to the local operator by itself, nothing to touch. Careful, though: if you end up going to only one of the two, the country plan comes out quite a bit cheaper.

The flight from Tokyo to Seoul takes two hours and costs less than the train to the airport. That's why so many people chain the two countries together. And that's why so many people land at Incheon with an eSIM that has just run out of places where it works.
The twelve countries it covers
Cambodia, mainland China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam. If your route stays inside that list, a single QR covers the whole thing.
| Asia regional plan | Price |
|---|---|
| 7 days · 1 GB | 7,90 € |
| 15 days · 3 GB | 15,90 € |
| 30 days · 5 GB | 23,90 € |
When it isn't worth it
Almost any time you don't genuinely cross over. The Japan plan costs 2,90 € for the same 7 days with 1 GB, against 7,90 € for the regional. If your trip is Japan with a twelve-hour layover in Seoul, it's cheaper to take the country plan and lean on Incheon airport's Wi-Fi that afternoon.
The other option, when you'll genuinely spend days in both places, is buying two country plans: 4,90 € for Japan plus whatever Korea's costs usually stays below the 15-day regional. eSIM lets you keep both installed and choose which one is in use from the settings.
The regional earns its keep in convenience when your route touches three or four countries: there it really does save you buying, installing and switching three times. For two countries with a long stay in each, do the maths first.
Do I have to do anything when I cross the border?
No. The regional eSIM connects by itself to the local operator of whichever country you land in. No card to swap, no settings to touch.
Can I have two eSIMs installed at once?
Yes. Compatible phones hold several stored eSIMs and let you choose which one is active at any moment from the mobile data settings. Only one uses data at a time.
Does the regional plan run on 5G?
The Asia regional runs on 4G. Japan's country plans do carry 5G. For Maps, messaging and the translator you won't notice the difference; for big downloads, you will.
