Does my phone support eSIM?
Two thirty-second checks. If either fails, don't buy: the eSIM is issued to you and can't be reused.
Check it yourself
- Dial *#06# on the phone's keypad.
- If a 32-digit “EID” appears on screen, your phone supports eSIM.
- If you only see the IMEI, it doesn't.
And it must be unlocked
A handset locked by the operator that sold it won't accept anyone else's profile. If you bought it on a contract that hasn't finished, ask your operator before buying.
Supported models
- iPhone
- XS, XR and later. iPhones bought in mainland China don't support eSIM.
- Google Pixel
- Pixel 3 and later. Pixel 3 units from Australia, Japan and Taiwan don't.
- Samsung Galaxy
- S20 and later, Note 20, Z Flip and Z Fold, A54 and A55. US Galaxy units are usually fine; some Asian market versions are not.
- Others
- Huawei P40 and Mate 40 Pro, recent Motorola Razr and Edge, Oppo Find X3 and later, Sony Xperia 10 III and later, Honor Magic 4 Pro.
This list isn't exhaustive — there are more models, especially flagships. The *#06# check beats this list.
